I missed posting yesterday. That's the first time that I've missed a post since I declared my intention to post everyday back on the 5th of April. That's four months. I don't think that's too bad a run. The sad thing is, I don't really have a good reason for missing. In the past 4 months I have managed to post at least a little bit around illness and travel and all other obstacles. This time? I just had a good weekend.
It began on Friday evening. Our daughter wanted to have a "movie night" and we had been waiting to watch "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" with her. We got "Lee's Famous Chicken" for dinner and settled in front of our rather large projection screen to watch the movie. It was good. We liked it. We have been a fan of Mckenna Grace since the movie Troop Zero back in 2019, and from her appearances on Young Sheldon. So, yeah. Good.
It also doesn't hurt that the original Ghostbusters is my wife Julie's all time favorite movie. In fact, after watching Frozen Empire, we were still in a movie mood, and so we watched the original Ghostbusters. That's two movies down, and we weren't feeling ready for bed even though it was getting late. We wanted something short, and I decided to give that new Batman series on Amazon a try.
I might have gotten a bit sucked into Batman: the Caped Crusader. Julie watched the first two with me, and then fell asleep. I continued to watch the next six or seven episodes. Now, it was quite late and we had plans in the morning.
Our big "wall o' games" had developed a lean. We were worried that the shelf might collapse under the weight if we didn't do something. So, I reconfigured the shelves, reducing their height and making them quite a bit wider. I did my best, but we lost some shelf space. It was time to cull some games. Said games had been moved to the car and we had plans to take them to the game store in the morning.
So, in the morning we got up bright and early and took our daughter to work so that we could have the car. We then went out to our favorite breakfast place: a diner in Muskegon called the Cherokee. After a very yummy breakfast we headed off in the direction of Zeeland to our friendly local game store, Out of the Box Games.
We dropped off all of our games for their consignment program. I was a little worried because I called ahead to ask if they could take the games, and they said that they would … probably. They had started to become a bit picky because so many people were participating in the program. He said maybe not all games would be accepted. I didn't need to worry, they took everything. When those games sell, we will have store credit to get more games. Hopefully, by then we will have our shelving situation sorted out.
As it is, we bought 2 expansions (for Cascadia and Village) and 2 new games (FarAway and Cities) anyway. (We might be obsessed.) When we got home, I was pretty tired. I had gotten probably 5 hours of sleep, but I'm getting old and that just doesn't cut it anymore. I took a nap, and when I woke up it was 6. My D&D game was due to start at 7. So, I got ready to play … my day was gone.
I blame Batman.
